What Is It?

Glutathione (GSH) is one of the body's most powerful antioxidants, detoxifiers and immune system boosters. It also works quickly to neutralize free-radicals and recycyle other antioxidants like Vitamins C and E. Although the body manufactures GSH, many aspects of living quickly deplete the body's stores. Pathogens, toxins, and aging also greatly diminish GSH levels.

Until recently, because unprotected GSH is destroyed in the stomach, precursors in the diet were the only way to help restore optimum GSH levels. What does GSH do?

GSH is the cell's master antioxidant. Not only does GSH function very well as an intracellular antioxidant, but it also recycles Vitamin C, Vitamin E, lipoic acid and peroxide, the cell's other vital antioxidants.
GSH is a powerful detoxifier. The liver, as the body's primary poison/toxin filter, contains more GSH than any other organ or tissue in the body. Not only does GSH neutralize many toxins and carcinogens, but it is also key in their elimination from individual cells and the body.
GSH is "super food" for T-killer cells, T-helper cells, basophils, phagocytes, microphages, and leucocytes, greatly empowering these first line defenders in the human immune system.

Why should someone take GSH if the body already makes it?
In the presence of toxic and infectious stresses in the body, the levels of GSH inside the cell and outside the cell decline. While it is true that GSH is synthesized inside the cell, this does not mean that this ability can keep up with all stresses. It does not. Subsequently, the lowered GSH levels cannot maintain optimal cellular health, resulting eventually in clinically apparent disease or generalized poor health. Lowered GSH levels result in compromised immune function, which can then allow almost any disease process to entrench itself and flourish.

Will a generally healthy person see any benefits from taking GSH every day?
A truly healthy and robust person will probably not see much of a difference when taking GSH, since it is synthesized in the body, and a healthy, non-toxic, non-infected body on a perfect diet will likely maintain normal GSH levels. However, most "healthy" individuals are not usually as healthy as they would like to think. Sadly, most people feel "fine" and think they are perfectly healthy the day before they have their first chest pain or their first sign of cancer. Helping the body to maintain and/or restore normal GSH levels will help enormously in reaching the level of health that they would like to believe they already have.

Are there any side effects to taking high doses of GSH? And what would be considered a high dose of GSH?
We are not aware of any side effects of taking high doses of GSH orally. It is hypothesized that a 500 to 1,000 mg dose of GSH, in the liposomal form, should be a substantial dose. However, like all antioxidants, GSH is directly affected by the total toxic and infectious stress that is present in the body. Some individuals will probably do very well on 500 to 1,000 mg daily, while others could need substantially more to maintain or regain a normal antioxidant status.

Since Vitamin C can significantly raise the GSH levels in the liver, should someone take GSH and Vitamin C? Or, should they stop taking Vitamin C and only take GSH?
All antioxidants work synergy. Vitamin C is the most important extracellular antioxidant, and GSH is the most important intracellular antioxidant. A high level of one is always of benefit in increasing low levels of the other. The best advice would be to take both.

Are there any supplements or medications that should not be taken with GSH?
We are not yet aware of any other supplements or medicines that will be negatively affected by the administration of the liposome-encapsulated form of GSH.

Suggested Use

As a dietary supplement, take one to two packets per day for boosting the immune system and maintaining cardiovascular, hepatic and glandular health. For best results, snip or tear the notched end off the packet, squeeze into your favorite cool beverage and drink on an empty stomach. We do not recommend mixing the product with a hot beverage or with any high-speed blenders or food processors.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Do not freeze or place the product in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.

Supplement Facts

NOTE: GSH is made of three amino acids: glutamate, glycine and cysteine. Cysteine contains sulfur and gives GSH its sulfuric odor. Lypo-Spheric GSH has a mild odor and aftertaste. To minimize the taste, we recommend consuming the product with a flavored beverage.

Shelf Life: When stored properly, the Lypo-Spheric GSH will stay 100% effective for a minimum of 4 months from the time of purchase. The expiration date is on the bottom of each carton and on each packet as "XMMYR".

Please note: The recent batches of Lypo-Spheric GSH have a thinner consistency than previous batches. Livon Labs has performed quality control testing to ensure they are still 100% effective. They recommend storing the product in the refrigerator to thicken the consistency.
