What is
it?

Methyl Caps provides pyridoxal-5-phosphate, the active coenzyme
form of vitamin B6 that does not require liver activation.
Methylcobalamin, the most neurologically active and most
bioavailable form of vitamin B12, has been included in this
formulation to help maximize homocysteine control.*
A renegade amino acid called homocysteine is a potent threat to
arterial and heart health that rivals oxidized LDL cholesterol.
This wasn’t discovered yesterday, but 30 years ago by a renowned
Harvard pathologist named Kilmer McCulley, M.D.. Instead of the
Nobel Prize for Medicine which he should have immediately earned,
he had his grant funding pulled and was essentially fired from
Harvard. Recently Dr. McCulley has been tapped to lecture across
the country about the dangers of elevated homocysteine and what
doctors can do about it.
Homocysteine is formed as a derangement of methionine metabolism.
Incidence of high homocysteine levels show up in several groupings.
30% of the elderly have high homocysteine, as do 29% of
vegetarians, 5% of omnivores and 13 to 47% of symptomatic
atherosclerosis patients.
Fast Facts
Estimates show that 40% or more of all heart attacks and
strokes are caused by elevated homocysteine levels.
Homocysteine accelerates the aging process by shortening
telomeres.
Homocysteine has been implicated in angina, atherosclerosis,
abnormal blood clotting and intermittent claudication.
Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia patients are known to have
elevated homocysteine levels.
It has also been implicated in several forms of cancer.
Homocysteine oxidizes cholesterol. This is important because it is
thought that only oxidized cholesterol forms plaque.
Rheumatoid arthritis patients have 20-30% higher homocysteine
levels than the normal population.
Homocysteine impairs collagen formation, disturbing the bone matrix
and worsening osteoporosis.
Homocysteine contributes to the onset and progression of
Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, MS, Depression, Parkinson’s Disease
and Schizophrenia.
High homocysteine levels come about because of a nutritional
deficiency of 4 key nutrients:
Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) that functions to remethylate
homocysteine back to methionine, lowering blood levels.
Folic Acid converts homocysteine back to methionine.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine HCl or pyridoxyl 5-phosphate) acts as a
cofactor in converting methionine to cysteine, thereby passing the
homocysteine derangement.
Betaine (Trimethylglycine) acts as a methyl donor to lower
homocysteine levels, leaving DMG (dimethylglycine) after the methyl
donation.
